Games are often won and lost in the final minutes, and they are decided by which team has that little bit extra left in the tank. At Tudela FC LA we want our kids to be able to play our style of soccer from the first kick to the last, and to that end we have created a fitness program available to all players, in addition to their regular training. Our fitness staff is all about making it fun while taking it seriously.
Andy McDermott, NASM-CPT, our Fitness and Nutrition Advisor, is a former professional soccer player who, after retirement, became a fitness writer and video host for Muscle & Fitness as well as a health and fitness contributor to Men’s Fitness, GNC and other brands. (Andy is also served in the Tactical Response Unit for the Phoenix Police Department, but we won’t need that expertise!) Andy is consulting with our coaching staff to tailor fitness and nutrition programs for their teams.
Cortni Joyner is the Tudela FC LA Director of Fitness. Cortni was an all-SEC midfielder at the University of Georgia before playing in the W-League with the Atlanta Silverbacks and in the NWSL with the Pali Blues. Post-soccer, she turned to fitness—her certifications include Crossfit Level 1, CrossFit Weightlifting Course, M.S. Kinesiology, NASM CPT, and CrossFit KIDS. She is leading several sessions of Speed & Agility training for us every week, and it is a testament to how good she is that the kids love her no matter how hard she works them. Tudela FC LA is very proud to have Cortni on our team.
